HOWTO install Linux 2.2 using RAID-Level 1 for Data- and Root/Boot-Partitions

This page is an ADD-ON to my RAID HOWTO.

11.2 in case of disk-failure ... first try :)

one of our two data-disks just faded away it seems. here's the /proc/mdstat:

  aqua:~# cat /proc/mdstat
  Personalities : [raid1]
  read_ahead 1024 sectors
  md0 : active raid1 sdb1[0] sda1[1] 8707072 blocks [2/2] [UU]
  md1 : active raid1 sdd1[1] sdc1[0](F) 17920384 blocks [2/1] [_U]
  unused devices: (none)

well, as i probabely don't have to tell you:

BTW: despite this "crash" our system works normally, just as it should be ... the RAID-system does exactly what it should :).

the assumption was correct: the disk was dead.
i replaced it, everything works fine again.
here's what should be the correct way, i removed some one-ways in this description a ran into :)

summary detailed version (what i did exactly)
